Biogas is the name for any flammable, biologically created gas. It is a mixture comprising 70% methane (CH4) and 30% carbon dioxide (CO2) (natural gas is almost 100% methane). Sewage and all vegetable matter will decompose and give off Biogas. It is produced when organic matter decomposes in the absence of Oxygen (O2). This can take place in a landfill site to create landfill gas or in an anaerobic digester to give Biogas. For safe and accurate monitoring of this hazardous gas, Geotechnical Instruments (UK), present its Fixed Position Continuous Biogas Monitoring system:"GEMINI".Incorporating it's industry leading GA2000 landfill gas analyser technology, the biogas monitoring system can store 3,000 datasets with the logging interval set between 15 minutes and 24 hours.
The system is housed within a weatherproof enclosure and is able to perform gas conditioning. System options allow measurement of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) in a range of 0-5000 PPM (parts per million). Additional gases can be measured with optional electro-chemical cells.
The temperature and pressure of the gas in the main pipe can be measured, displayed and logged along with the barometric pressure.Battery backup is provided in the event of mains supply power failure. 4-20mA outputs and relays for alarms and fault conditions are also a feature of this unit.
